Well all of my fish are now dead except for 1 extremely strong hippo.

all the fish started rapid breathing this morning, but all my corals are o.k.
for now. Put them in a 30 fowlr tank

I dont even know were to start, My skimmer was going nuts this morning.
I then added a gallon of top off water which had a teaspon of buffer in it.

The water came from my rodi which is the first gallon of water from the new cartridges. I did run 40 gallons thru the sediment and charcoal units then added the new di unit but I didnt run any water thru that . Any suggestions on were i should start to look. or were can I get my water tested at a lab, possible contaminants? Could my P.h dry tab be off and it is incredibly high? and could 1 teaspon of buffer put me that far over the top when everything was fine prior. The powder blue tang and the hipp look as if there fins were missing color as if they were burned.

55 gallon with 75lbs of live rock and 15 gallon fuge 15 gallon sump

Ph 8.4
nitrate 0.0
amonia 0.0
nitrite 0.0

When in times like these, start with partial water changes.
It will ease whatever is bringing on these conditions and give you some time.Sorry i can`t help you much more.

:DFRANK2926,
KNOW IT'S AITTLE LATE,8.4 PH IS NOT REALLY TO HIGH.
PARTIAL H2O CHANGE WILL HELP. DID YOU HAVE AN ANEMONE DIE IN THE TANK? HOPE NOT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN IT, OR IS SOMETHING MISSING THAT MIGHT HAVE DIED?

GOOD LUCK

Skimmer going nuts is probably a clue and that the top-off water had little to do with it - when your fish die like that you need to go back to basics - whats the ammonia/nitrite/nitrate levels? Yeah you aren't supposed to use the first few gallons off a fresh DI cartridge but your symptoms are pointing to some sort of ammonia spike from pollution i.e something dying. What kit did you use to get those levels and when was that tested?
