My Euroreef just came in today and I just finished hooking it up. I am having a problem with the collection cup filling up with water very quickly. The riser tube is all the way down. Is this part of the break in? The air tube has no restriction on it. Should I get something to put in there?

I lowered the water level to 7 inches. They said in the 6-8 range. It started calming down. I think I was just overreacting to the break in period. thanks

Also, make sure the air intake is clear. When something is stuck in there, the water level goes usually high.

Good to hear it's finally settled down a bit. It'll take a week or so before you see it in its full glory :)

Incidentally, I had to poke the hole into the air intake on the venturi for my new Euroreef skimmer. This was just poor quality control on their part. Once I knocked the remaining plastic out, the skimmer started aerating nicely.

I still cannot figure out what the riser does! I can't seem to get it to stay in any position other than all the way down. Raising it does not seem to alter the skimmate production anyway. The manual does not even discuss what changing the riser height does. Any thoughts?

Well, if it slips down to the bottom you should return it. You should be able to raise and lower it and have it stay where it is. A higher level = more watery, less concentrated foam... the bubbles should be about halfway up the chamber, between the big nut you unscrew and the bottom of the collection cup. That's what works for me, anyhow.

The riser should be equiped with a rubber O ring around the outside of both ends, this is what prevents it from slipping.

My ES 8-2 riser slips too and I have found that the O-Ring is not there. Either it did not have it or it got disolved or something like that.
