Welcome to reefs.org bro!

My anemone likes frsh scallops from the store. I cut up a small piece here and there and hand feed it to him.

He also likes the formula2 that I feed the rest of my tank.

I'm sorry, wasn't trying to be a smart A$$. I honestly didn't know what anemone you meant. Common names are sometimes confusing, and interchangeable. It didn't look like you were trying to type bubble tip either.
Calm down. :D

Good luck.

Jim-
I was suprised recently to hear people talking about "Bulb Anenome" and referring to the E QUads that I've always called "bubble tip". I'd never come acros bulb anenome as another name but when I looked for it on the web there were lots of posts.

One of our new club members wanted a bulb anonome and it didn't occur to me to offer one of our extra (split) bubble tips until I figured this out:) Always more to learn, I guess. Especially with common names where we aren't all always referring to the same species with a name.

Can't agree with you more on the issue of common nomenclature, Jim.

I'll second that. It's worth taking the time to learn the scientific name of species you spend a lot of time talking about. It's also amazing how people will use a single common name for a huge variety of fishes, or a common name that is in and of itself incorrect, ie. referring to Halichoeres chrysus as a yellow coris wrasse, when it is not a coris wrasse at all. Recently an LFS here was selling a type of predatory snail as Queen conchs, when they weren't even conchs at all!

Anemones get most of their nutrition from the lighting, which feeds the symbiotic algea inside the anemone.

However, they also require the occasional "bulk" feed. I feed my bubble tip anem once or twice a week with a whole mussell. Other food includes cockles, lancefish or squid although any meaty seafood will do.

I once had a malu anem which grew so big (18" across) that I had to stop feeding it to slow its growth down. This worked well and the anem showed no stress when not fed for several months.

Good luck

Andy
