Hi everyone,
I think that I'm gonna be getting some new test kits soon. Currently I'm using Teta Test kits and I wonder about their reliability. I would just like to know which types of test kits everyone uses and what the best ones out there are. (I just wanted to put that face there cuz i never used it before)

I use doc wellfish/aquarium pharmueticals test kits. I like them since they are easy to use and you get a lot for your money. However, they don't make copper or calcium ones. Red Sea makes those and other reef test kits and seems to be good, although I haven't tried them yet.

Hope this helps! :D

LaMotte, Hach, and Salifert are considered to be at the upper range on quality, most accurate. Out of the three Salifert is more common due to it's price and availability.

I would reccommend that you avoid using Red Sea test kits. I have heard several times over that they are not accurate.

I agree Salifert are good test kits IMO. The only calcium test kit I ever used that I felt was accurate.

I use Seachem. Good value and have worked well for me. I like the fact that they include a reference sample to test the kit against.

Salifert, however, aren't readily available for retailers to order. I've been trying to get them for quite some time now, but have not been able to find a distributor so I can carry them in my store.

Difficult to order direct, too, since they're in Holland.

Peace,

Chip

I would also concur on the recommendation for Salifert. The Hach and LaMotte kits are also very good but they're also very expensive. Many of the scientific field labs use one of these two test kits for testing water.
