I recently purchased a clown fish and left him in a quarentine tank for almost 3 weeks. I just noticed tonight on the top fin a growth that looks kinda like cauliflower?? There is also a sign of something growing on it's belly and around it's mouth. Any indications of what this could be?? and how to treat it?

I will try and post pics tomorrow, but I wanted to get something posted right away for in case this could be severe.

It sounds like fungus, also commonly referred to as cauliflower disease. You need to administer to the tank fungicide, commonly available at your LFS or through mail order. It is also suggested you remove the fish from the hospital tank to carefully scrape away as much of the fungus as possible with a soft, moist cotton swab. This is tricky, I know, since fish don't like being taken out of the water ;)

Also, since you have had it in Q tank that long, you should REALLY check water quality in the Q tank. You'll probably need to do a pretty big change and soon if you haven't. 3 weeks is about right to get a good bit of ammonia built up.

If it was the display tank water that was the culprit it would take longer for it to show up. Get the clown out of the main population and back into the hospital tank. Then treat it as suggested and also evaluate your hospital tank parameters as suggested. I would also suggest doing a shot of a liquor of your choice every time you do a water change. It won't do diddly for your fish but I find it makes reefkeeping alot more fun
