i love the sunlike effect of my mh. by the way, i think that is so similar to natural sun light because of the color temperature, which is 5200k. bulbs with higher kelvin are bluer but i don´t think that they produce a natural looking like this one. i´ll try to take some more pics latter. glad you´ve liked it
you havent had any problems with algae with that bulb?
i have a 250w with same kelvin rating, that i have been thinking
setting up a spare tank with that bulb over, but wasnt sure
how well it would work.
oj,
i´ve been some issues with macroalgaes, but i think that´s because i didn´t had any herbivores in the tank. so i putted a small y. tang a couple of weeks ago, and they are going away with the predatory behavior of the fish. before the tang police come after me, i must say that i´ll be upgrading my tank soon to a 75g, so the tang will stay in this 29g for a couple of months only. besides that, i think that algae needs a similar lighting source of corals. so, the bulb that´ll make corals grow, will certainly make algae appears, if they have the condition to it (NO3 levels high, PO3 too and so on). i love this bulb and will stay with it no matter what.
oh, another thing that i remembered. Daniel Knop recomend this bulb in his book. so, it´s proved that its spectrum is great for corals and clams... and algae too. . it´s just a matter of having a good skimmer, do water changes....
one question,
the candy cane coral in the lower right corner of the first picture hasn´t been looking good in the past few days. it has shrunk a lot in it´s almost only the skeleton, with just a little piece of flesh. the other animals are looking fine. do you know what could be?
