Several days before you go away, up the feeding regime slightly.
Don`t go overboard!!!!
They will be fine while you are away..

As Emperator said, topoff water is very important. You might want to see if a friend or neighbor can check the water level once or twice while you are gone.

:)fungia,
fatten the fish(so they can live off body fat) up before you leave, also raise the water level in the tank it's self. 10 days isn't long enough to lose to much h2o. what about one gallon or so. dont leave food in the tank while you are gone. it will raise the levels of your water, making it worst then before you left.

best thing to do, find someone you trust, give them the key and enjoy your self.

good luck

Vacation time is ALWAYS the time something goes wrong.

Take the advice - have a friend, neighbour or pet-sitting service take care of it - it's worth the peace of mind.

I'm a "back-up" person for many hobbyists' neighbours! If there is a problem, they can call me, I can usually trouble-shoot over the phone, and if it's something major, the hobbyist is usually more than happy to pay for an emergency service call to save their tank.
