I have three tangs in a AGA 180- does that count? (yellow, regal and sailfin)

Other than that, I would say the riskiest organism I have is the kid that takes care of my tank when I am gone... ;)

I keep an adult Red Sea Regal and an adult Emperor in my reef. They don't bother my SPS and most LPS. I can count on them pounding: xenia, zoanthids and open brains though. Also usually bother clams in to an early grave.

So you've learned through trial and error just how you can "formulate" your reef for them, yes? Any other information you care to share? I'm sure they're fat-sassy healthy, yeah? We like pics! (Even have a forum.)

I've got a golden butterfly in with some sps, (hydno, acro, birdsnest, pocillipora), and an Emperator angel in there too. A passing nip is all I've ever seen either of them take out of the corals, but both fish will tear apart my caulastrea, so it's currently residing in my sump, as is is my other lps, (an open brain), the angel's favorite. My foxface has taken passing nips at the closed brain coral.
All of the coral colonies are fairly large. If any of these corals were frags, I don't think that they would survive.
I'm currently "farming" aptasia in my sump... , and I rotate some LR pieces back and forth into my main tank, where the butterfly makes short work of them.
The main tank gets fed food such as formula flake, pellets, mysis, nori, frozen brine shrimp and a frozen concoction that I make up myself. They would much rather eat that stuff than nip at a coral.

I have a Snowflake Eel in my 29 gallon....soon going in my 100 gallon. I have not seen my Pepperemint Shrimps for a few weeks now. This eel had a short confrontation with my Coral Shrimp the first day I had him but now they actually share the same hiding spot. Wierd!!!! I also have a Foxface. I have read conflicting info in books regarding the "reef safeness" of these fish. I have not had any problems but all I keep is creepy crawlies and mushrooms. My Eeelwill chase the small fish in my tank during feeding time.so I have to be careful that I feed my eel first by hand. Well got to go and finish salting my water in my 100. Should be done today. Maybe get that Huma Trigger to cycle my tank....LOL.....comeon...it will work and the same cost as a bunch of mollies and even less than a bunch of Damsels. Lots more fun too! I wonder if he will eat my Coral Banded Shrimp? Hmmmmmmmm?

Nobody ever said eels were not reef safe  You just have to watch what kinds of shrimp/crabs you keep with them.

Currently i have an Asfur and a Queen angel in my tank. I have kept Majestics and Regals in my full reef in the past also. My experience with these 4 breeds have all been well. I havent lost a single piece due to harassment. Of these four the Asfur (5 in) seems the best adjusted, doesnt bother a thing except for the queen which is about a 1/2 in smaller. The Queen does pick at things including Sps and my clam mantles; but i have yet to see any damage or loss. You kind of just get used to the picking and over the past year the Angels have grown to be nice mature specimens along with the frags which are now tables. Now if i can just get the Queen to eat the flat worms...

Cheers! D.D.

Hmm well I am adding a juvenile Harlequin tusk I think to mine as soon as I can evict a few shrimp and gobies. I picked him up today healthy and eating for 40 bucks - at about 3". I have always wanted one and didnt want to drop 100+. Once he's out of quarantine I shouldhave all the potential munchies out.

Any idea if my large CBS may be safe with him since he was in tank first?

I wouldn't worry about it ..... a Tuskfish won't take any guff from any fish, even juvies (unless they're tiny). A CBS shouldn't pay attention to a wrasse anyhow.

Len, thanks much but I was more wondering how big crustaceans and fish need to be before they'd be off the menu for the harlequin. I plan on keeping him well fed but he's roughly the same size as the CBS so not sure if he'd attack him or not. I've seen hawkfish attack shrimp 4 or 5 times their size and kill them so I'm just trying to be proactive.

Oh, my bad. I read it as Copper Band Butterfly ..... stupid me.

At 3", the tusk is big enough to eat the CBS. I wouldn't trust it around any crustaceans, as I've seen them run through shrimps and crabs like a buffet line. Can't force hundreds of thousands of years worth of instincts outta them, even if you keep him nice and fat :P
