I removed my bioballs in my sump, but now it is quit loud. I added a piece of PVC to account for the missing bioballs and lowered the trickle tray to within an inch of the water level of the sump, but it is still conciderabley louder? Any advice? I placed a ball of cotton under it for now, but it is still too loud? Should I get rid of my trickle tray and just runn the pipe right into the water?

Put a nylon net on the end of your pipe, and exted the pipe within a couple inches of the water level. This should cut down on the noise a lot

the pipe is within 2 inches of the trickle tray, and the trickle tray is within 1 inch of the water. the trickle noise is not he problme, its the noise of the water exciting the pipe. It is hitting a pile of cotton.

It's obvious your fans and overflows are not noisy enough to cover that sound.....

In my ex-trickle, I found that using that mat screen that came with it and keeping the water level just at "the place where you lay that" (for lack of a better description...) helps. I wouldn't try to submerge the lines...back pressure and all....I've often wondered about lengthening them tho...?

Actually, this might be an option - as long as they don't extend too deep. Here's a quote from Rich Durso from another current thread:

A fluctuation of the water level in the overflow chamber is typically caused by backpressue in the drain line. Typically from having the drain lines in the sump submerged to far. Only submerge the drain lines about an inch or two.
