I'm looking for a cheap RO/DI or even maybe just RO unit. My question is DI even worth the trouble? I've been using RO water only for top-off for a pretty long time with great results. Another question. With say 25 GPD system where exactly do those 25 Gallons go? And what if you don't need 25 Gallons in a day? I would be using it for top-off and for water changes. For Top-off I would ned maybe 2 gallons per day and for water changes maybe 10 gallons per week if that ! So how does think work exactly ?

Pardon the ignorance ;) Thanks !!

yeah the i would do the DI again.

get a unit that puts out a decent number of gallons a day. you don't want to wait fifteen hours to fill your topoff container(s).

if i remeber right, you have about a thirty gallon tank, right?

if so i would utilize a sixty per day unit and fill those ten gallon jugs every week or so.
it is best if a RODI unit is used frequently.

I have a 5 stage RO/DI that does 90 GPD. However, I don't have it plumbed into the water line. Instead, I have a sink attachment that I hook up and just get water as needed. Nights before I do a water change, I'll fill up a large rubbermaid, add my salt, and let it sit over night with a power head in it. I would also recommend getting the DI with it.

I purchased the dual home/reef system 6 stage at 50 gal a day......there is an upgrade to 75 gal a day for ten dollas more but 50 gal is plenty for me.The whole installation for me took about 1 hour...my wife loves the RO for the family and I love the RO/DI for my tank. The whole thing shipped was around 225.00 total.
