Hi all!

I've got a 75G w/ integral overflow box w / 2 1.5" PVC bulkheads thru the side of the tank. This is a home-built internal box w/ teeth, and the thru-fittings are near the about halfway to the bottom of the 8" tall box.

The question is... about how much will this return flow?

And therefore..... what size return pump? I want to stay away from Rios.....

Any specific recommendations as to type/brand of pump? This is in my apartment, so noise is an issue, and i'd love to avoid a chiller..

otoh, the under-tank space is limited, so if it's an external pump, plumbing may be an issue.

thanks!

I would reccomend the Oceanrunner 3500 made by aquamedic. I looked into the Sen/dolphin/quiet one and asked a number of people before I bought it. Im happy with my oceanrunner, seems to be built quite sturdy and runs like a champ.

We'll you've got some conflicting needs there But:

I would go with an iwaki if you at all can. They are a bit noiser than the the sen but they won't add heat to your tank like a sen will. If you ahve to add a fan to the tank because you add a sen the noise is a mute point.

I only recommended the Sen because he mentioned that he would prefer a internal pump due to lack of space and possible plumbing problems. Myself would chose a Sen for internal and a Iwaki for external.

we ended up with a Dolphin 900, since it can be internal or external mount, and fits (the short way) into a 10g tank.

Thanks again!
