radium bulb run on What ballast?

I have some radiums 400w and I am wondering how many of you are running them on pulse start ballast vs the HQI. I've the heard the regular ballast don't burn as bright. What is your experience? Also, does anyone know which the bulb is to supposed to sit? I read something once and I switched mine. Now, after a year one bulb is a little bluer, but I don't know if it is brigher. I don't verticle or horizontal but the thing inside is up or down?

The pulse start ballast is the ballast it was designed to run on. On that ballast it will burn and look how it is designed to. HQI ballasts will overdrive the bulb (thus burning it brighter and giving it a whiter appearance). I am not sure what you are asking about the bulb sitting (unless you are referring to the nipple in the bulb and most people will say that you should have that pointing up). If you have had your bulbs for over a year then they need to be replaced (radiums will get darker as they get old).
