No mortalities, but a few damaged frags.
Here was the situation :!: New job out of state. Way out! Three tanks
1- 75gal mix hard/soft reef tank, 1- 20l propagation tank, 1 20h misc. live rock tank.
The plan 8) move all 3  What the hell was I thinking????
The preparation: I start the planning weeks before the actual move. I figured I would need some type of biological filtration for the 20hr+ move. So I acquired sponge filters and seeded them in my 75gal. sump. I went to Walmart and bought several battery powered air pumps. I also went to the local Lowe's and picked up some rain gutter screen and plastic storage bins. The gutter screens were used zip tie small containers (yogurt, deli, etc.) to put frags. in so they wouldent damage each other from any shifting during the move. Larger corals were placed in between the containers.
The Move :x I started breaking down the tanks about 7a.m. I seperated the hards and softs into separate containers as much as possible. Each container had its own sponge filter. One container had carbon in a mesh bag for a precation. The container was loaded with crabs, snails, cukes, etc. each species in their own peanut butter jar. All 7 fish were moved in a 5gal. bucket. All of the live rock and sand was moved in buckets and a 40gal trash can.
Everything was packed up by 3pm. (Tank wise!!) I still had pack up misc. around the house :( We finally hit the road by 6:30pm. The corals and fish were in the back of my suv and the live rock and sand were in the back of the rental truck. We made it to our new home about 4pm the next day  The unpacking began. Everything was moved indoors and the air pumps were replaced by powerheads. Unfortunately everything had to stay in their moving bins until the following day (packed up 2 days up to the move, 20+hr drive, and had to unpack the 24ft. rental beast and personal vehicles  ). Water quality was stable and all looked well, considering. 50+hrs later and the tanks were up and running. NO LEAKS!!!! and no morts., No crypt. outbreak !!! Here are some moving pics.

I'm gonna "marked for archiving" this post since it does a great job at showing pictorially what needs to be done to move a tank.

Man you did a great job of planning out and executing that move.

did you write up a plan before you started or just get it in your mind and then start?
