My 90 gal FO Tank has been set up in my new house for about5 mnths. Before that it was set up for about 4 years. At that time no problems. Now that I have moved I keep getting Ich. I have treated the tank over and over and taken the carbon out. I keep losing fish and the Ich comes back. Has anyone heard about the power heads putting something into the tank to cause ich. It sounds strang but also logical. I cant figure out my problem.Do I do a 50 % water change and scrub everything down or what. Any sugestions.

Well I feel your pain. The same exact thing has happened to me. I also have a 90gal reef tank. Any time I buy new fish and put them into the tank they get ich and die within a few weeks. The good thing is that I have found out what the problem is.

Thanks to other posts here I have found that my problem was that I didn't acclimate my new fish to my tank. When I brought a fish home I used to just put the bag in the tank and then release the fish into my tank after about 25 min. I didn't know that. Once you have a good case of ich going in your tank like I have had you have to remove all the fish from your tank give your tank about 2-3 months. During that time I believe that the ich dies away because it does not have a host to live in. I am currently in the middle of this right now.

As for the acclimation process I have found that everyone has a little different view on the exact process. Bascially the it involves adding some of your tank water to the water that is in the bag with your fish that you purchased. I believe the best method is a drip from water in your tank to the bag.

Anyways do a search in the posts for ich and acclimation and you will read all the recommendations. Good luck!

Thnaks. I do acclimate them the right way. I think there is more to the ich. I want to know if anyone has heard about the power head theory,.
