ive got 5 big ones, so i figured i'd start with one and see how it went.
i tried injecting it with hot kalk i warmed up in the microwave,
and it split. now ive got 6.
how much should i inject into each anenome? these are pretty big, 1 1/2 - 2" disc.

Is the kalkwasser solution you're added a slurry paste? I've found the only way to kill them with kalkwasser was to use boiling kalk paste. The paste kinda sits there after you inject it. I inject a good 2-3 cc's per aiptasia.

You can also try NaOH (lye). It's not toxic if it's pure NaOH and it works better then kalk.

I've heard just boiling water works fine too... - I've got a few to fry myself, so I'll let ya know how it works for me. (Once I can find a needle end for my syringe..) :?

the needle i have i think is too small diameter for
getting paste through it. it clogs up at the tip when trying to
draw the solution in. i think i'll try boiling water with the thickest
kalk mix i can pull in.
grateful - i picked one up at a walgreens for a quarter. just told them what
i was using it for. they said they sell them all the time, people
use them for glueing models and things like that.

One of the suckers just appeared out of my curing live rock over the weekend, and now the wife won't let me get rid of it! I told her if it moves, it's dead.

Forget your wife sstephen - kill it now, or you will be sorry. KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! I use a piece of IV tubing attached to a 30cc syringe - borrowed it from the hospital - and take about 5 tbsp of kalk powder and mix with about twice as much water, boil it, and drop down on top of the offensive little beast forming a small mound above where it used to be. Usually it works, but sometimes the sneaky little critter escapes and re-emerges a few days later. I then hit him again! KILL ALL APTAISIA!!!!

That is an excellent description of how to kill aptasia, but I have had trouble finding any 2N NaOH from any online or mail order supplier. I do not have any local chemical supply companies. Does anyone out there know where to get some NaOH?

Red Devil lye. It's available from your local hardware / grocery store. It should be in the cleaning section. It's 100% NaOH and you'll have to dissolve it in water per the link above.

FWIW

i had a aptaisia on a bit of lr and injected vinegar into it. Killed it with a single dose. the advantage is that with a small syringe and a fine needle you can dose the aptaisia easily into the body of it.

I have some manjano anenomes which may go the same way if they become trobulesome.

i had an old bottle of aragamilk laying around and i figured
i'd give that a try. i had to dilute it with a little water to get
it to draw in the needle.
it liquified the aiptasia almost instantly.
maybe there is a use for this stuff.

I just tried the NaOH method last night and it seemed to work. I haven't seen any sign of the anenome yet, but it may be a little early to declare victory. One piece of advice to anyone else who might attempt this: don't apply more than few drops (like 3) at the most of this stuff. As the article warns, the reaction will create a solid that settles around the anenome. You can say goodbye to anything that touches. I saw at least one amphipod that wasn't very lucky. After letting it settle for a few seconds around the hole the anenome was in, I stirred the water with my hand (I was wearing new rubber gloves) to try to get it dissolved and less concentrated. I was a little nervous about some of the stuff coming into contact with other inhabitants before it fully dissolved.
