How long will live sand stay alive? I've had my tank torn down for 3 weeks. (don't ask, long story) so my live sand as been in a large rubbermaid tub (wet) for 3 weeks. Is anything going to be left alive or should I start over?

thanks,
-todd

Hmmmm....doesn't sound good. Are you saying it's been sitting with no oxygen or circulation? No heat? If so, I wouldn't count on it being alive at this point. Does it smell?
DSB's need circulation/oxygen in order to live, remember your are dealing with living organisms.

I believe they can remain dormant for some time. I would try the whole cycle and just leave the sand in there and see if it works. Worse case scenario you loose loose a few weeks of your cycle
