Hello everyone,

I need your help. I have a octupus coral in my reef tank. It's been in there for 4 weeks and seemed to be doing fine. Last night I noticed a polyp floting in the tank. After looking at my corals I noticed that it came from the octopus coral. It seems to be losting a couple from one of it's branches. My Tank info is as follows:

150 G, 150 lbs of LR, 125 lbs LS
440 watts of VHO lighting
AM - 0
NITRITE - 0
NITRATE - 5 ppm
PH - 8.2
SAL - 33
SG - 1.024
CAL - 410
ALK - 11.2
PHOS - 0

I also have other corals that are doing find. They are as follows:

Anchor coral, bubble coral, torch coral, mushrooms and zoo's.

Can anyone help on this?

Thanks,
Kevin :(

It's possible that your Euphyllia is simply budding for asexual reproduction. If it's just one branch, it's possible that that skeleton was damaged which is often the catalyst for budding. I wouldn't worry much about it if the rest of the specimen is doing well.
