Hi to everybody,

I am new in this forum and I really need some help because I new in the world of Saltwater aquariums.

I have Saltwater aquarium from 4-5 weeks ago and it's working great, but the last week I got a new beautiful purple-white Sabella. And yestreday I sow the tentacular crowns on the sand. And I was in shock, but I see the worn moving inside the tube, so I have some questions:

Please tell me if my Sabella will die?
When the Sabella is growing the crowns fall off?
My sabella is sick? What I can do?

Please give a hand and thanks,

Yitzchak Rothman

Note: Sorry for my English.

They can shed their crowns in times of stress. If either the worm was attacked, or if the water quality became such that it stressed the worm.

Since it is a new addition, I wonder if it was properly acclimated to your tank from the water it came in? The shock of too great a change in temperature or salinity could have caused this.

They don't necessarily die from this, but they sometimes do. If the tank conditions are good and the worm was not too damaged from whatever caused it to lose it's crown, they can grow back.

If it crawls out of its tube and falls on the sand, DON'T TOUCH IT! I made that mistake and I think it cost me my worm.

it might still live and might die...but sebellas will shed their crown of feathers when stressed..so just to confirm mulberry, it is either being attacked or the water quality is poor..id take some measurements and then make a decision on whether or not to make a water change...
