fish are dissapearing

not to long ago, i had a yellow watchman completely disapear.
he was active, out all the time. now, one of my firefish is gone.
i moved over the weekend, so i had all the rock out and the
tank completely empty, still no trace.
i have a black brittle star, at least a foot from leg tip to tip.
could he be eating them? i have seen him grab mysis that
floated close to his cave.

They have been known to eat fish if they can catch one, but I've never seen one do it.

I would not be comfortable with any critter that's a foot across in my tank... especially a brittle star.
