How's that store doing? They had just reopened and gotten their systems back up when I moved away. Does Bob still work there? Little guy, actually knows his stuff...?

The store seems to be doing OK and overall seems to want to be responsible. They've been having classes on the weekends before they open to educate on various topics (reefs, fresh water plants, sea horses, etc...). I went to the sea horse class and found it quite good. They had a guest speaker from seahorse.org and stressed captive bred as well as the husbandry particular to sea horses. It lasted about an 1 1/2 hours.

However, they really have the Nemo stuff everywhere. I saw Bob last weekend and asked him what he thought about all the Nemo stuff. He just rolled his eyes and said that he and most of the other sales people are rufusing to sell them to newbies.

Ocean Enviroments in Fort Myers, Florida has a "Nemo Special" sitting right on the sales counter. It is a 10 or 15G tank with a little bit of LR, 1/2" or so of sand, and a cheapy HOB filter of some sort. And of course, one false perc. This is the $149 "take Nemo home today" special. The clowns in their tanks are maked as "captive bred". They have never ever specified if any fish in the store was capive or wild caught! Scumbags! :x

Dear Randy,

Reguarding your post here on reefs.org i am somewhat shocked at what was written. While you are entitled to your opinion maybe you should do some research before you post. The 10 gallon tank you mentioned is nothing new, we have had many small aquarium setups available throughout the years, well before nemo ever existed(there is a 1/2 gallon setup on the counter as well). The setup in question is 10 gallons & has 10lbs of live rock 1" of sand and an aquaclear filter which most people would regard as a quality hob filter adequate to the task. The ocellaris clowns (there are two) happen to be one of the most suitable fish for small tanks and were very popular even before nemo. We have offered and will continue to offer tank raised fish when available. Most of the clowns we have sold over the past 3 years have come from ORA with which i am sure you are familiar, i can only gues you haven't seen the stickers on the tanks which report this(the stickers have been there for years). As for the last word in your post i will not stoop to that level.

We haven't seen a single person interested in starting a nemo-based marine tank since the movie came out. Although we do constantly get the influx of non-customers finding nemo, and dori, etc... each with at least 6 screaming children with greasy fingers :?

I wonder which LFS is going to be the first to clip down a perc's pectoral fin and sell it as a rare nemo look-alike...
