What do you guys recomend? The tank will be a 29 gal. with 130 watts PC over it. my already planed inhabitants are a C. Gigantea, some zoanthids, and some mushrooms.

After all the corals I will add 3 Crown of Thorns stars. 8O 8O

Softies near the bottom, LPS near the top.

Colts, Lemnalias, star polyps, zoanthids, mushrooms, Neptheas, etc.

Torches, Hammers, Frogspawns, plates, etc.

You could have a very diverse tank there, just be patient and add things slowly...

Peace,

Chip

i wouldent put a clam in that tank. you dont have enough lighting for it. as for starter corals i have seen the best success with leathers. a kenyan tree or a mushroom leather are very good to start out. mushrooms are also very hearty. i wouldent suggest lps as if your a beginner i dont think you will be able to keep up with its needs as of yet. i would lean towards zoo's and star polyps and polyps in general.

You can put something like a T. squamosa or T. derasa in there and it would do just fine. I grew my T. derasa under a carefully chosen mix of normal output fluorescents, so it's really more a matter of choosing lights with the proper peaks in certain wavelengths (let's avoid red), intensity (measured in lumens/lux), and color temperature (measured in Kelvin ratings) than it is a matter of total wattage. (I really dislike that watts/gallon "rule".)

What's a C. gigantea? Some how, the name "gigantea" does not seem to do well in a 29 g tank. Is this a coral, an anemone, a clam, a fish or another inverterbrate?

I am guessing he means Condylactis gigantea - anemone - not a good choice in a small tank IMO - needs fair sized tank or species tank if you are keeping it by itself.

Suggestions - I would try a sinularia dura, sarcophyton, cladiella or capnella if you want leathers or maybe a nice caulastrea or trachy/wellsophyllia brain if for a stony.

Also Clavuria and Pachyclavuria species are nice and spread fairly fast as well as anthlia and xenia which should do fine under 130 w on a 30 gallon.

C. Gigantea is a Condy.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I wil probably go for some brains and torches eventually, but i still have a lot of research left to do! :D
