I feed the crap out of my titan trigger, and yet he's not fat, nor does he seem to grow that much.

Is it possible he has some sort of internal parasite? He's very active, and always eats. However, he doesn't come up to the top of the tank when I feed. Just the opposite, in fact...he swims away.

I've had him for a year and a half, and he's 4" long.

Peace,

Chip

Actually, I hate to say it, but it's time to take it personally. :P

I am come to believe that each fish has its on personality. I have had two of the same type of fish, at seperate times, and they acted completely the opposite of the other one. I have a niger trigger, about 6 inches long, it has always been very active. But then one day he cut his chin while wrestling for food with my wrasses and eels. After this he went into hidding for about a month. Guess he did not want anyone seeing him in this ugly condition. But he is all healed now and out and about as usual :)

I had a huma huma for about a year and a half before I took him back to the LFS. We was prolly 4" long. The thing that told be how healthy was how wide he was. I would guess he was 3/4" or so at the widest point. He looked stocky.

I fed him shrimp and krill mostly. He was a pig.

I feed this guy a TON of stuff, and yet he looks very thin. I'll take pictures of him tonight and post them here for y'all's analysis.

Well, What are you feeding him?

If what you are feeding isn't keeping weight on him I would try some other things. Some fish flesh is fattier than others. Certainly try more frozen food if you typically feed things like flake food.

I know that fish can harbor internal parasites. I don't know how common this is, and I wouldn't know the first thing about worming a fish, except that it has been done. I think Scott Michael mentions worming a puffer in one of his articles somewhere, but where you get the stuff and how you do it I have no clue.

I have the same problems when I keep triggers. I feed them every day to satiation with fresh shrimp, squid, formula one, angel formula, and even a little beef now and then. They won't eat red snapper. They were fat when I got them, and now they're skinnier around the "nose" between the eyes and mouth. I believe they need to be fed VERY often. Scott Michael suggests 3 times daily, but there's no way I can do this every day.
