Opinions on Hang-on Aquafuge

For a 55-gallon I'm going to be setting up. Nothing's drilled, going to use a hang-on protein skimmer, and this looks like a good way to add a refugium to the system.

Any experience with this or comments?

I have used the aquafuge and it works pretty well. It's not the same as a large refugium under the tank, but it is better than nothing. If you are trying to avoid using a sump underneath your tank, I recommend it. I light mine on a cycle opposite the main tank. This created a small problem of light leaking from the aquafuge into the main tank at night so I cut a mask out of black paper to cut down most of the light leakage. Not ideal, but better than nothing.

I used latex paint to cover all sides of the aquafuge, zero light escapes it now...works very good.
