There are a couple of anemones sold as sebae anemones (H. malu and H. crispa). The one you are refering to is Heteractis malu. This anemone is often sold bleached (white with purple tips) and dyed (yellow with purple tips).

They are a sand anemone that does best under strong lighting (usually does best under halides) and should be provided with substrate deep enough for them to anchor their foot in (IMO no less than 3" deep).

what clowns would go best with them?

In captivity people have had luck getting a number of different clowns to host in them. In the wild the only clown I know of to associate with it is A. clarkii.

This is where the confusion comes in with sebae anemones. The anemones sold as purple tipped sebaes are H. malu (the one you are inquiring about). H. Crispa is also sold as a sebae anemone and in the wild has a natural relationship with A. percula but not ocellaris.

How big is your tank? In general, it is not a good idea to mix clown species. With the 3 ocellaris that you currently have 2 will eventually pair up (ideally) and the third one will be the odd man out. That is why it is best to keep clowns individually or in pairs.

i have a 72 gallon tank...the clowns have been together for about six months, i thought two would pair up because they all grew so quickly once all put together and one got even larger than the two others, i thought that was a sign...anyway, the reason i am writing here is because i have this sebae anemone and i was wondering if i could find it a clown to host with

Give it time. The clowns may host with the anemone and they may not. You don't want to mix clown species. A perc would have no greater chance of hosting with H. malu than your ocellaris.
