Hi All,
I haven't posted here in about 2 years. During this time I had some personal tragedies and as a result my reef tank had a severe meltdown. Well she's all cleaned up now and ready for restocking. In the past I had PB Tang, Foxface, Keyhole Angel, 2 bangaii, 7 chromis, neon dottyback & a tomato clown. Corals included Open Brain, Colt, Hammer, Frogspawn, Fox, Bubble, Toadstool, Shrooms, & Assorted Polyps. Live sand & rocks, 240 gallons, 30 gal Fuge, 30 gal. sump, MH lights, Ca Reactor, RODI, skimmer, etc. Basically can handle most anything.

I'm thinking about going in a different direction fish wise, & still want to repopulate the corals. I'd like to start with a Volitans Lionfish, everything else would be added around the Lion. I would appreciate any suggestions as to what other fish I could possibly add.

Thanks

reefer,

when i started my 150 i put together an agressive tank. i had black lion, gold stripe grouper, snowflake eel, chainlink eel, 5'' dragon wrasse, and a 5'' formosa wrasse. it worked very well. all were hand fed. it took the lion a little longer than the rest to take food from my hand but he did come around.
from what i understand is if the lion can fit it in it's mouth, don't put it in the tank. i had some damsels that were just a little too much, but the lion would stalk and try to eat them.

good luck,

Thanks for the reply wrasser, was deffinitely thinking about eels, also a panther grouper, but I heard panthers loose their spots as adults. Did you feed the damsels as you would normally feed reef fish? ie everyday? Did the Lion cause the damsels to school?

reefer,

no, the damsels did not school. there was only two or three and they did there own thing, when the lion wasn't stalking tham. and yes, i fed them daily. well, i should say that i put spectrum in daily and both wrasses and damsels ate. be careful with smaller fish and the eels at night my eels ate them.

good luck,

Would it be OK to keep clams with this kind of tank? I was also thinking about a marine betta, boxfish, or puffer. Any thoughts?

reefer,

i know that the puffer is aggressive, no sharks or sting rays, the puffer will eat the eyes and sort. so if the tank is going to be aggressive i say yes with the puffer. :? i don't know, but from what i understand of bettas they are kinda passive and any tang could pick at the fins. and i know nothing about boxfish, sorry.

good luck,
