Hi All. I have a lion fish with ich. He is in my 90gal reef tank now and I plan on taking him out tonight and put him in a 10gal tank so I can medicate him. First question is... what meds are recommened for ich that I can get at my LFS. Second question is is putting him in a seperate tank a good idea? I would think it would be so that I don't have to medicate my 90gal tank. Thanks in advance.

You'd be safer going with hyposalinity first. Go with a specific gravity of 1.010 or so, bring it down over the course of a day or two. Also, let the tank go fallow for 6-8 weeks (8 are better) now that it's been infected with the parasite. Make quarantine a RELIGIOUS practice and you'll never have to go through this again. ;)

Hyposalinity is a method of treating ich, not a medication. It's where you lower your specific gravity of you hospital tank down to 1.010 from where yours is at the moment. Do this real slow, as to not strees the fish out any more. Like seamaiden said, a couple days. Also soak the fishes food in Zoe or Selcon. This worked for me when i had a bout with it. Good luck....

I'm afraid this won't go well if s/he doesn't already know what specific gravity is... :(
