Yellow-Tipped anemone question

I'm confused... I thought most anemone's liked a lot of bright light. Right now, I only have a 48" dual 65W PC over my 90 gal reef. I still have to get the two 110W VHO's mounted in the hood.

Anyway, when I placed the anemone in the tank, I tried to make sure that it would get enough light by placing the rock he was on high in the tank. When I checked him the next morning, it was all closed up. That night, I noticed after the lights had gone out that it openned back up. So, I tried moving the rock back to the lower part of the tank. He stays open a lot more, and has even moved down between two pieces of LR.

Has anyone else ever seen this behavior?

Either way, the clowns both love him! I just want to keep them all happy!

I was told that it's a Yellow-Tipped Sebae... but I've not been able to find another to compare it to... Here's a pic.. it's kind of washed out, but I can't get another good one since it crawled behind the rock.

did you just add it to the tank..it might be trying to acclimate itself to the lighting...it does like alot of light, but if it is recently exposed to higher intensity of light, it might shy away til it adapts...

Yes.. it was added two weeks ago.. before it moved, I was starting to get worried. It didn't move until yesterday morning.

Now the only other concern I have is, once I add the VHO's, and dump more light in the tank, will it cause more harm than good?

i actually have an anemone that looked alot liked that. its a sebae, and i got it and it was almost identical to that. i put it under 2 75w vho's in my tank and is starting to recover its zoo and i now have a 175w metal halide, and 2 blue pc's. so i think your problem is not enough light. but if you get your other lights i think it will be fine.
