Green Farm: The Organic Multifunction Livestock Feed
Green Shrimp (GS)

This is a multifunction food supplement for shrimp. To be used in addition to the normal shrimp feed. It acts as a:

• Natural growth promoter to quicken growth rate i.e increases the size and weight, enhances feed conversion rate, enhances the beautiful colour of the shrimp shell and helps to lower the mortality rate of the shrimp aquaculture.

Immunity stimulant for defenses against infections or diseases by parasite, fungi, virus and bacteria.

Medication to treat infected shrimp, cure wounds, revive shrimp shell growth and increases cell revival including the support of the molting and shell rebuild system in the shrimp.

• Anti-stress i.e. it is capable of defenses against change of water quality, temperature and high-stocking density in the shrimp aquaculture.

• Heavy metal neutralizer and/or detoxifier including reducing the feed fragmentation and fermentation.

I think you may have to use your own creativity and motivation to help yourself help your shrimp. You may have reached the borderlands of the hobby and this forum. Diagnosing and treating diseases in marine ornamental crustaceans is the edge of the envelope. You are staring into the hyperspace of the unknown for a hobbyist.

You have been given good leads. You have a possible diagnosis. You have a possible treatment. Start Googling search words. You probably need to enter the world of shrimp aquaculture. Start zeroing in on a supplier for the medicated food. Look for scientific bulletin boards that study shrimps. Use the Latin name, use the term crustacean. Get creative.

We are all behind you and seek to learn from your quest. Turn this thread into "420puff is gonna teach RDO how to cure a sick shrimp".

Thanks for the help and encouragement John.

I will do my best and hopefully some good will come out of this. We will see what turns up. Again, thanks John.

If this is a bacterial infection on his skin could there be a small possibility that when he molts nex time, if he makes it till then, could he not molt the black spot/infection off?

What about something like spectrogram? If it's okay for inverts, shouldn't he try something like that?

It's a broad spectrum gram negative antibiotic...and I think it's okay for inverts...although we need a second opinion on this. It should be applied in a QT...and I've heard good things about it...certainly worth a shot.

Maybe I'm way off base here...I dunno.

Looks like I might be up a creek......

I'm gonna try to locate and contact shrimp hatcheries/fisheries in my area or anywhere for that matter and see if they can help out. Im striking out so far on finding virtualy any info or treatments anywhere.

I just can't imagine that people havent run into this before in our hobby enough to the point that someone hasn't created a product or treatment. Out of all the reef tanks we keep as hobbyist there has to be an incredible amount of shrimps......

You're not up a creek if you would just start paddling.

I did a crazy thing. I Googled "shrimp black spot disease". Isn't that a goofy thing to do when you want to find out about a diseased shrimp with black spots? I found this...

Abstract

Vervoort, D.; Redant, F.; Declerck, D. (1980). Causes and incidence of the "black spot disease" on brown shrimp (Crangon crangon). ICES Shellfish Commitee, C.M. 34: 1-10

Different aspects of the "black spot disease" of brown shrimp (Crangon crangon) were investigated: the primary cause of the disease, the eventual influence of chitinoclastic bacteria on the formation and progress of the black spots, the influence of moulting on the progress of the spots, the occurrence of black spots on individual shrimps, the incidence of the disease among the population of shrimps in the Belgian coastal waters and the possible causative factors under natural circumstances. The results of aquarium experiments and of observations on a natural population indicate that physical damage of the exoskeleton, caused by primary cause for the formation of black spots. The "disease" seems not to be of pathological origin. Secondary pathological manifestations however may occur.

Now you need to start emailing shrimp experts. Get some pictures in focus that aren't huge and be prepared to email those to the experts.
