my friends reef tank as been runnin 2 years on a under gravel filter,also he as a internal fluval 3 and a internal fluval four running with the undergravel,now what would you do,he as invested in interpet prime 30 which as been runnin now for two week.iam led to believe that it can take up to 6 week to mature,i have told him to rip out the under gravel and leave the fluvals running for four weeks or so untill is new filter as matured.do you think thers enough bacteria to keep of nitrites with just to fluvals runnin.should he leave the undergravel in untill 6 weeks as gone .
what would u do,tank size 48-18-15,the reason he is ripping the undergravel out is because the plates r blocking up and its fowling the water.

i know it can take 6 week for filters to mature in a new set up,but this tanks fullymature is 2 week long enough,the fluvals have been runnin 2 years.
