I have froozen Nannochloropsis Instant algae that I have left from when I raised rotifers. http://www.reed-mariculture.com/
I have two new small clams that I think could need feeding. I took them out and placed them in a bowl and added some instant algae. Occasionaly they closed and squirted water. Also their exhalent siphons occasionaly closed or became smaller.
After 45 minutes the water had not cleared. There was small green strings in the water (possibly algae that they had gathered and then spit out?). I put the the clams back into the tank.
After another 30 minutes: A green string about 1/2 inch long was coming out of my smallest clam's exhalent siphon. What does this mean?
After another 30 minutes: It has dropped its first string out of its exhalent siphon. Now after another 30 minutes there is another string that is darker green. Can they digest this fast? I have not seen the other clam releasing any strings.
Were they eating? Is instant algea an inappropriate food for clams?
