I have a growing problem with a strange type of algae. It consists of clusters of small green, round globules that have srted to grow in increasingly large clumps. They pop like a ballon when pressed. Anyone know what they are, what causes it and how to get rid of it??

Bubble algae.I`d remove as much as possible by hand but don`t break the bubbles in your water because it releases spores and you get more algae.I have it in my 55g and every now and then I`ll clean it up.Not really a big problem in my case.Emerald crabs are supposed to eat the stuff but I`ve heard mixed reports on that and in my own experience they wouldn`t touch the stuff. If it`s real bad try taking the rock out of the tank to clean it.

I saw a couple of bubbles of valonia in my tank last week. I messed around on my computer for a bit and when I went to take a picture of it about an hour later, it was gone and one of my emerald crabs was sitting on the rock where the valonia had been. Just my experiance.
