I have an ES5-2 and I need some help as to why sometimes the outlet tube overflows with bubbles...it only does this sometimes....the water level in the sump is usually about 4 inches..anyone have any suggestions?

It could happen for several reasons...one food...you might have just fed the tank, air pressure change...yes the atmosphere can affect the height of the water...3 things getting into venturi...will raise the water level of the skimmer... and 4 bubbles are normal out of the outlet tube...especially right after a feeding....

Hand-in-tank syndrome?

Less bubbles = more waterflow = higher watercolumn in the skimmer. Hands in the tank often causes a skimmer to produce less bubbles for awhile.

As well, do you have an auto-topoff? If your salinity were to vary alot, that could be the culprit.
