Well as the tittle says the Banana eel jumped out of the qt tank again, and this time I was not home to put him back in. I guess it didn't like the qt tank.
RIP

Nice eel BTW. Dont you just hate that. I mean i dont really have any "jumpy fish" but i know how you feel. I used to have brackish mollies and i had this nice ballon molly and she was pregnant and when i returned home she was nicely crispy and dry. Man poor little babies had to die that way

OH NO!!!
Very sorry to hear of your loss!
Not that it will help you through your grief but FWIW,
They have about 7 different kinds of eels right now at NWA,
even one that looks like your dearly departed. :happysad:

Thanks guys. Hubby said we would replace him, but as far as I am concerned replacing him is not an option. It was my girlfriends favorite eel, and aI didn't do a good enough job of keeping him save. He popped the plastic piece that goes on the glass, and got out. I should have placed rocks on it, or something. It was a stupid stupid mistake.

Oh My,
I am sorry for your loss, it was a beautiful eel. I am sure you tried you best to keep him in the QT tank.
Nicole

P.S I was reading an older thread and I was the one you met at the frag swap who bought the skimmer from HOF

Hello Nicole, how did you make out getting home? I could really kick myself for not helping you out. I am really sorry. I can give you reasons, but it won't change things. I hope I can make it up to you...

Awilda, I am sorry for the loss of you eel. You were QTing it because you cared about it remember that. And like Kathy said all things happen for a reason, maybe it was time for him to be with your friend in her new reef tank. The big guy works in mysterious ways he's got a reason for everything.

Hi,
Making it home was an experience since I didn't fit through the turnstyle with my cart, LOL:tongue:. But, in no means was that your problem, I appreciate the thought. I always enjoy adventures, and can't wait till the next one. You don't have to make anything up to me. Maybe just another nice conversation at the next frag swap. I am really sorry about your eel, I know what it feels like to loose one of your favorite fish.

sorry Awilada, eels are escape artists, I've not seen a tank yet that would hold one if it wants to get out. I lost a large snowflake eel a long time ago, it was in a tank I would have bet anything it could not have escaped from.

Thank you All :grouphug: for your compasionate words. I know that they are escape artist I've had a couple of eels escape in my early days. I had one snowflake eel that insisted in going down into the fuge. After the 4th time of fishing him out I left him in there until he got to big & fat to fit through the slots in the overflow.LOL Then I put him back in the display where he stayed put.
Back to the Banana eel, he was happy in the 155 then got to live in a 75. And then into a 30 he went, I guess it was more then he could tolerate:sad2: .
