Are Hagen Aquaclear Pumps Submersible?

Just like the title asks...

I have a Hagen Aquaclear (80 I think) that I want to use as a QT filter. I want to start seeding the filter for the next month or two but the only way I'm going to be able to get it to fit is if it goes inside my sump on one of the partitions. The sump is eurobraced as is the tank and the water level is a good 8" below the top.

sorry, I'm not up on my Hagen... I meant the HOB power filter series.

i don't think is made for submerged but then i never tried it.

I haven't pulled it out to look at it to see how sealed it is. I was just curious if anyone has tried before.

i had one that wasn't submerged n it leak n had voltage strayed.

doesn't sound promising... I'll have to find another way to start a QT filter. Maybe a sponge filter?

i would just use a powerhead n stuff a of those cylinder sponge on the intake.
