Bubble tip anemone

I have a bubble tip anemone and I have read some people say to feed it and some say they do not feed it. What is the right answer? Also my Percula clowns have not taken to it and it has been about 3 weeks, is there still a chance or not?

Pick a middle ground; I don't directly feed mine, but it doesn't hurt to do it once in a while like weekly.

As far as hosting, percs are not the "natural" clown for E.quads. so it's a hit or miss (stressing the miss). "Fire" and "Maroon" clowns are pretty guaranteed, some have sucess with a few other species as well.

I don't usually feed my bubble tips on purpose. There is definitely still a good chance the clowns will go into the anemone. Three weeks is not really all that long IMO.

My percs took to my new Ritteri anemone within 24 hours so i'd say after 3 weeks, it might not happen.
All hope is not lost however as some other members have had fruitfull pairsings of true percs, ocelaris and a BTA.

Like the other suggestions, just play it by ear. Some of the large, darker colored BTA's that require less light can fair better with occassional feedings.

As far as the percs, give it time. My tank-raised maroon took a week before it finally stayed in my BTA, and that wasn't until I removed a powerhead that was its hiding place. I'm sure percs don't naturally host in BTA's, but the instinct is strong. Even in tank-raised clowns, so don't lose hope.

probally not. they're pretty agressive.

Nope. The maroon would likely injure or kill the percs.

As for feeding the anemone, we have always directly fed our anemones. Krill, shrimp and silversides are all great foods for a BTA.

dont go with the maroon.. good call reefsn and shr00m... if you're gonna go with different clowns..although i cant imagine why you would...id go with an A. Clarkii, clarks clown...they'll take resident just about in any anemone...they're not as agressive as maroons but not as passive as Nemo...

thanks, yep the maroon i had years ago would attack the heck outta my hand when i was cleaning..... or doing anything near his spot. didnt really mean to say aggressive more territorial, but they will not put up with other clowns.
