Has anybody ever plumbed a drain and fresh water near their tanks? If so, what's a ballpark figure for what it costs? Did you need permits?

Thanks!

Technically, you probably are required to pull a permit, but some contractors may do it without one.

As for cost, alot depends on the type of floor that needs to be removed and how far you have to cut to get to the nearest drain line. If it is a concrete slab, you could be looking at some real bucks. You could easily spend $500 - $1500 on cutting, patching and replacing whatever floor cover you have. The plumbing cost would be fairly insignificant compared to the floor cutting.

Now if you have a wood floor that is elevated, that is a different story all together.

We're actually looking at houses now, and I've been asking at each one if it's on a slab. So far few have. Maybe I'll luck out in this regard.

Too bad about the permit. I assume it would be a pain to get them (do you have to have plans drawn?), but I've also seen what a hassle it is when it's obvious work has been done without them. It really screws up the works while buying/selling the house.

Thanks.

if you are lucky the suppy and drain for a bathroom or laundry room will be near where you need the supply. It would be super easy to tap in to either. For inside work I would see if you have a friend of a friend who will work for cash or beer. It will make your life a lot easier.
