I just saw on the news that they are finding a toxin in algae and it is killing seals.

Now I use NSW from the Scripps pier spicket and even though its filtered do you think I may have a problem with the toxins possibly entering my tank and killing off my livestock??

Or should I even be worried at all considering its still the same water that scripps aquarium is using?

So... how many seals are you keeping in your tank ....

Sorry, but can't help it. I won't worry too much about it, since the toxicology between seal and coral is very different.

Seriously though, he's probably right. Did you ever know that lionfish venom is virtually harmless to fish? The physiology is probably so different, I wouldn't worry if Scripps continues to use it.

I am *always* right.

I never ever lied either. Everything is true, just look at my screen name. ;)

Ignore the b*tch( :D ), however, I would not worry about it. Something else is probably killing the seals, something they eat.

It is perfectly fine. Just make sure you take it out periodically so that you can clean off the algea from the plastic. Make sure you don't rub off the yellow paint....

OH Jesus!

boy, take it easy my friend, he's just using his warped sense of humor on you. Think about it, the water you're getting from the pier is exactly what the aquarium is using for their entire system. Also, is it just the seals dying, or is everything else dying? Are the calico bass and halibut and senorita fishes and everything else that lives in such abundance down there washing up on the beach? If in doubt, contact the aquarium directly.

Mr. Pea, shame on you! You are such the dupe. :P

I've heard there are times down there when the water get's VERY bad due to raw sewage. Don't know if it's true, but I've heard the story more than once and wouldn't touch that water until I checked it out.

Nope, but I filed patents for fun, joke, and enjoyment in the USPO, and I have several lawyers working for me. ;)
