Just set up my new 120g reef, I put a standpipe in the overflow as I have done with previous setups.. but for some reason this setup produces a gurgling sounds every 2 mins or so... any ideas? standpipe to high, to low? any help would be much appreciated..

Go with a Durso standpipe. It will cost you maybe $7.00 to make, and will solve your problem.

sounds like not enough air getting into the pipe maybe?

That'd be my guess. Go with either a Durso or Stockman standpipe design.

I think you'll find that if you watch the overflow, it will slowly increase in height until all of a sudden enough water height builds up, and it goes rushing down the pipe with a loud gurgle.
Agree with the Durso recs.
