Dang..I really feel for you... Even if you win, it doesn't replace the loss :(

Is there anything in Windex that could soak into the silicon in that tank?
I've heard that copper in a tank can into it and you shouldn't use that tank for inverts ever again....same thing w/Windex???

that whole copper thing getting absorbed into glass/silicone to the point where the tank can't be used again is a myth. period.

i've seen dozens of coppered tanks set up as reefs w/no problems at all :)

all they require is a thorough cleaning

Hello everyone and thanks for the support.

I have been out of town and I just got back and read all these really nice messages. Thanks again.

The Windex that was dumped in was the Ammonia free kind if that makes any difference.

All the corals have since died including the ones that I thought I could save. Going to start a new cycle on the 10 gallon on Saturday and the 67 gallon still has my live rock and sand bed. I am taking this one slower but the water has almost cleared up. I keep finding hermits still alive in both tanks. I will hear back from the police Saturday night about what is going to happen legally but will probably have to go to small claims.

Going to test the water. I will keep you posted.

Thanks again(again and again) for the support.

Scott.

P.S. You don't realize how much you miss something until it is gone.

Ok then, we have Juck, supaboy1981, and Reef Guy1 for the SWTRF (Spielbergo Windex-Tank Reconstitution Foundation)! Between us, we can send him some heart-felt frags that can help to mend the wounds of malice and spite!
Spielbergo, lay it on us! What kind of stuff are you thinking of stocking your tank with this time around? How can we help? Would you accept our contributions, or would you rather reconstruct your reef by yourself? Let us know what you want, and we'll, at least I will, try and help. Juck already mentioned his offering to send frags and polyps, so thats why I counted him, just incase I was speaking in imputence...

Anywho, you have our emails, and you can PM me any time. Let us know how everything progresses in any case!

I am not sure if I want to reuse those LR and LS again. 96% of something inert is in the Windex, but what exactly is it that 96%?

My condolences.

competitors once came into an lfs i worked in and managed to slip detergent into our invert system

plenty people do stuff like that, and willfully, all the time-same as muggers/thieves/rapists, etc

spite is a very powerful force for the small minded

Just starting a new cycle on the 10 gallon. 67 Still needs a lot of work, there is a huge outbreak of a very deep brown algae all over everything. Any idea what this means? I haven't thought of what corals I would restock with yet, there are very few that I dislike. I am quite partial to Monti Cap, Monti Digi, pretty much any colorful SPS, frogspawn, torches, gorgonians, the list goes on and on.

Will keep you updated.
Thanks again, Scott.

Just a quick update.

BOTH TANKS HAVE CYCLED!!!

Both of my tanks have cycled. They still look pretty barren and sad but are now ready for life. There are about two dozen very small feather dusters coming out of the live rock and they look bigger them they ever did. I have since put in a few snails and hermit crabs in each tank and they seem to be doing well. Coraline algae which once covered the back wall and most visible rock has all fallen off but has started to regrow on the rock.

I have been testing the water bi-daily and all has been well for a couple of weeks. Time for me to start rebuilding.

Thanks for all your support and I will post some pictures (before and after) as soon as I can.

Scott.

Hello,

I am still deciding exactly what I am going to restock with. I am going to pickup some Montipora Cap and Montipora Digitata as well as some zoos.

I will definitly be getting some clams. I also want a decent Christmas Tree Worm Rock specimen. I had one for about 8 months and they are hard to find up here. Here is what I am looking to get right now:

Ricordia
Torch Coral
An Anemone
Brain
Gorgonian

There are a lot more but I am still deciding. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the offer and the post,Scott.

I have a coral Farm going but only softies... and only leathers are ready right now, but I would contribute.

Its too late now... but you for future reference call poison control for something like that. Sometimes there are "neutralizing" agents for some chemicals, or they can often throw out quick advice and could for certain tell you exactly whats in Windex.

What are the legalities of shipping over the US/ Canada Border?

I will pay the shipping.

I am not sure about the legalities of shipping across the border but I think that on this side we must have an import permit. I will ask someone I know (who happens to have an import permit) about it on Tuesday and get back to you.

Thanks again for the wonderful offer, that is very generous of you.

Scott.
