I’m into buying Spottes’ Captive seawater fishes, and have a question about its content. I looked at Amazon.com and see the Contents and it says “Notes and references” 220 pages! What is it including, not just a reference list I guess? (The book contains almost 1000 pages, but from the Contents it seems ended after 580…)

It is an incredible book. Yet, few even know about it. I use it constantly for referencing things. It's just too bad that Spotte won't come out and lecture to hobbyists, like at a MACNA. I paid $110 for it when it was new!

The extensive references include quotations from the source. What they really are is footnotes. It's almost nutty, as the book's content is 30% footnotes.

Wow! I just looked at Amazon.com. I see the book is now $250 new, $192 used.

Goofy little secret...ever since I bought it, I have compulsively washed my hands before opening it
