I just received an aquacultured monti cap today, but during shipping it came off the aragonite peg and shattered. The biggest piece is about a square inch in size, and there are some small broken pieces. The coral itself doesn't look in bad or unhealthy shape, just broken into pieces. Do you think these will be ok? Or should I contact the shipper for an exchange? How should I try to attach these to the live rock? Should I glue the underside of the calcium skeleton or what? Thanks for your help

M. Capricornis are extremely hardy. You should be able to salvage each piece. It's really up to you if you want to ask for another, although they'll probably charge you for the shipping again.

If you decide to keep the pieces, mount them along the broken edges using super glue gel. The exposed skeleton will adhere to the glue much better. You could also mount it from underneath, but it may detach if it's a flat area that still has tissue.

sounds good, thanks a lot. I'm glad I don't have to go through the hassle of sending it back for another one...

Hardy is an under statement!
Use Elmer's superglue gel. You get more in the tube and it is a bit thicker.

P.S. Don't glue any piece of Montipora capricornis anywhere you may not want it in the future. Once it starts growing it is almost impossible to remove it. It only takes a tiny piece of tissue to start a whole colony over again.
