Namely, my buttons and mushies. They continue to show full colors and great extension, however I have not seen any growht?Tnak params are all fine, do I need to feed them? Thanks!
Good question. I have found with corals its going to be one of several factors:
A) Light
B) Flow
C) Food
D) Water chemistry (including toxic warfare inhibiting growth in some species)
It's usually a combination of several of these - for the zoos and mushrooms since they aren't stony I would look at giving a little more flow / light and if the zoos will take macro sized food then feed once a week. Even though some of these corals will live under PCs / VHO some will thrive and grow quicker under more intense light. For example I have colonies of zooanthids I had for almost a year in my nano that grew very slowly, maybe a polyp or two every month - since putting them in my larger reef with stronger currents and halides the colony has almost doubled in 3 months - it's really astonishing.
Mushrooms - hard to say, some actually seem to grow better oriented vertically IME and not just flat. If you want more just take it out and slice it in half - they grow really fast for me except my few rhosdactis sp. and some of my ricordea.
I tries all kinds of things to get my mushrooms to grow. I had a few multiply, but they never got very big. I finally moved the rock they are on the a shaded area in the rock. Now they are huge.
It's a 75g tank with 4 96w PCs. One actinic, to 10Ks, and one 6500K.
I don't know why they won't grow for you. I once had to tear down a tank to get rid of the mushrooms! They grew everywhere! Couldn't control them. Be thankful yours aren't growing like that.
