Being the anemone is new to the tank it could be nothing. However, if it is an environmental problem it needs to be corrected immediately!

S.G. for a BTA should be a 1.024-1.026.

Lighting should be in the high intensity range.

Iodine should be added but only with a quality test kit.

Temperature 78-82*f not fluctuating more than 2* per day

Now...

Do the tenticles come out at all?

If they do, do you feed? And what do you feed?

yes the tenticles do come out, most of the time infact i have fed him twice and each time i fed him jumbo shrimp freeze dried.

one time i saw him "puke" up part of it a while after eating and it came with a clear/slightly brown mucus. i dont know if this is just part of the normal digestion process or not, the clown fish ate the food that came out thou. and i dont think he was expelling his algey (or what every they do to become bleatched) there was not a lot of the mucus.

I've never fed an anemone any kind of dried food. I've also never seen an anemone do quite that, gotta admit, it looks really funky.

If you can't afford a refractometer, a lab grade float hydrometer will do, but measuring at its calibrated temperature range is imperative.

And welcome to reefs.org!

You feed fresh or frozen (thawed always). I have always preferred to get human consumption grade. As for the size of the food, if you think about it, aren't anemones of this type sort of already evolved to take their food as it comes? However, you can certainly break it up into smaller pieces.

As for your LFS, I can't speak for them, clearly they're ignorant and likely shouldn't be in business.
