The seller also has a website, with Zoos going for reasonable prices. Still, I have a long list of stuff I'd rather spend $600 on.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not downing the seller but I do my share of ebay buying and selling and it seems maybe someone is/has jacked up the price!

I deal with Anthony (the ebay seller) on a regular bases. He is honest hobbyist/businessman, and the way the auction went is out of his control. You don't expect him to email/phone potential bidders and beg them not to exceed certain amount, do you?

The winning bidder may feel it is worth every penny, and we are in no position to judge the value of the coral to him/her. I agree that the price is a bit out of expectation, but unfortunately ebay nor sellers want any mechanism to prevent this from happening in the future.

There's a sucker born every minute, and it was Anthony's lucky day to find all of them in America :D

How much food coloring do you guys think I'll need to dye those purple zoos blue?

Actually blues that color are very rare indeed. Those were pictures taken with and without flash, and they were that color under 10k, 20k, etc.

Money is relative. Just because I didn't have $611 to spend on a frag of rare blue zoos doesn't mean someone else didn't. I bid up to $235 and had to bow out.

If the new owner can nurture those zoos along the next few years, he will get his investment back tenfold.

Anthony by the way is one of the best online zoo vendors on planet earth :).

I hope you weren't too offended by the thread. I just can't fathom the idea of zoos going for triple digits. But than again, rare angelfish can go for five digits.

Oh no, not at all. I was just pointing out that the price will be determined by what the market will bear and it seems that harder to get, more rare zoanthids these days are growing in popularity by leaps and bounds. :)
