All i see him do all day is pick at the rock and bother my feather duster. I had some red algae that he his ate a little. I've tried to feed him flake, brian shirmp, mystic, krill, squid. And I haven't seen him eat any of it. I do have lots of algae on the live rock. But is that enough? He's been in the tank for for about 5 days now and seems to be doing good. Hes is hide in the cave all day and swins out to nibble at by feather duster.

This fish is not an appropriate choice for this system.

Please search our library http://www.reefs.org/library as well as fishbase.org to see what it eats in the wild. I really think you have too many fish in this tank, and that the angel is cramped. Also, I'd warned you about it nipping at the feather dusters, IIRC.

I see that you kept the maroon clown anyway. :|

Better yet, if you've got to have all those fish, set up a 75/80 gallon tank. Your wife may not have that fish for all that long, ya know?

5 is too many fish for a 29?! Crap! I have 6 in mine! Theyre just little guys though, like the clown goby, false perc, bicolor blenny, green chromis, and the mated pair of mandarins... They all look freakin' happy! What are you talking about, 5 fish being too much! I was told 6, and thats what I got, and thats how I like it, and they are just fine with it! The fish really dont interact much with each other any way, except for the chromis and clown forming a club with the bicolor. The clown goby seems more interested in perching on my shrooms, and the mandarins are always just doin' their thing, fluttering around, courting, and even mating right in front of me!!! Crazy bunch of nuts I have for fish...

DG, come on, think about it. If it were as simple as total numbers of fish, then you should be ok keeping, oohh.. say, five black tips in that tank, yeah? It has to do with biological load, and if ever anyone develops a good algorithm for folks to go by, that person's gonna be raking in the copper.

Right, thats what I was saying! I was thinking YOU were the one going by total fish numbers! Dont turn this one on me here! Ive done my share of thinking, thank you, and, seamaiden, I frankly dont think sputtering about biological load at this point in the game is going help anyone!
I mean, depending upon how big the angel is now in his tank, his biological load should be fairly spot on, considering his other fish are all small like mine; also, I think his filtration system could stand to come under scrutiny, but if the tank is mature enough, as Ive heard it said here, then it probably isnt a problem, for now. Im not saying anything about a couple months from now; I was keeping a sailfin tang in my 29 that was just about 2 inches long as a temporary arrangement. That tang, not being in my tank more than a month, now makes its home in a lovely 200 gallon reef (my neighbor's and the object of my envy.... *seethes* ["And thou shalt not covet thy neighbor..." Whatever...]). I have no idea how fast those angels you guys are speaking of grow, but it cant be more than an inch per six months or something crazy.

By the way, nice choice for an analogy! "Raking in the copper" has aa nice, ominous ring about it in a reef-forum!

It's actually a reference to how good a living one can make working in this industry. Which I didn't. And is why I no longer choose to make my living working in this industry. ;)

But, back to the topic at hand, unfortunately a lot of what china's doing is replacing dead fish. I don't know if you know how many questions like this I answer on a daily basis, but this isn't the only site where I do this sort of thing. Go check the Daily FAQs on the www in my posts. :)

I read Marina's answers on WWM every day at work. Unfortunately, she's right. Sounds like a good excuse to get that new 75+ gallon tank.

Rock on, man! We gotta meet up sometime! I'm probably making a premium aquatics run sometime on Saturday with a buddy of mine.

I'd love to go if I weren't working :x Do you know if they got their new sps system up yet? I've seen they have a lot of good looking ones online.

If your wife doesn't buy the excuse to upgrade to a bigger tank, you then have a perfect excuse to give the angel away along with the wife!

(it doesn't work though, if your wife is reading this...........)
