Can someone tell me what is the overflow rate out of a 1" Overflow from an Oceanic 58g RR.

From what I've read it's about 600 + gph
The LFS I bought my tank from said it was 300+gph.
When I asked for their recommendation for a return pump, the suggested a 350GPH pump.
This seemed really small based on the advice on these boards.
especially if you're looking for 10x return rate.
I was thinking of a Mag 9.5!

Please help straighten this out.

I use a 9.5 on my all glass 65g rr

The bulkhead/duroso handles it, but the overflow slots are way too small, had to knock the corner tabs off, I really should widen up the slots too

This is kind of a sideways answer to your question.
Your return pump doesn't have to be huge. You can run a smaller or throtled back return and a larger closed loop for circulation.

A 1" will definitely handle more than 300gph. It's hard to give exact numbers because each system varies--every elbow added to an overflow can affect the max drain rate.

If you're truly concerned I would do what Righty suggested.

In my experience setting up tanks for people a mag9.5 on anything less than a 75rr tank is a bit much. Go for the mag7.5 and you'll be happy. Hell even the cap 2200 works pretty well for a 75rr it's all on how much flow is too much and whether or not your pump can handle back pressure without cavitating. I recently set up a 75rr tank and installed a mag9.5 and it looked like the tank was a toilet  . Needless to say the pump was switched out for a cap 2200 and it works like a champ. Flow is good, but not if it pins your fish to the side of the tank.
