I have a Red Sea classic Hang On which I actually now use in my sump, and was thinking about getting the kent venturi valve as a modification.

Will this mod. work for the Hang On as well?

How exactly do you install it?

I hear this mod helps out quite a bit and would want to make sure it will work for the hang on version as well as also want to make sure I actually know how to install it.

* Get the Turbo-Venturi Injector 3/4" from Aquatic Ecosystems (Part No.: V34).

If for some reason your RSB takes a 1/2" instead, get that one.

* Using the key that came along w/ your RSB, unscrew the OEM venturi from inside the skimmer body. When you remove it, it should look something like this:

* Screw your new venturi into the place where you removed the OEM venturi from. Make sure to use plumbers tape on the threads.

* Attach your pump to the input of the new venturi however works best for you.

* Attach some 1/4" airline to the little barb that sticks out of the venturi and make sure that the top of that hose stays above waterline as if your power goes out, you could end up with a leak out the venturi barb.

That should be pretty much it.

I did this with my RSB in my sump and I powered it with a Mag12 pump, which was *way* too much flow for it. I bet I've throttled it down to no more than a Mag7 or Mag9 power using a gate valve. You should be fine using a Mag7 as IIRC one of the guys that I used to talk to online used that size pump on his 75 gal and it worked fine for skimming his SPS tank.

What pump do you currently have and how does it compare to a Mag7? Check http://www.reefs.org/library/pumps to review the differences.

Oh I forgot to mention. Tie off the airline that came from the old venturi intake port. This port needs to be closed.
