Hi guys, im getting my new 40 gallons thursday, do you think a marron clownfish could get along well, i guess it depends of the size, but will they fight?? Has anybody kept them together succesfuly, anything i should know before starting processus, what should i feed lion? thx a lot

A lionfish will eat a maroon clown at some point or another unless you intend to keep a dwarf lionfish (in which case they can get along). If you're planning a regular lionfish like P.volitans, I recommend keeping that fish and only that one fish in a 40 gallon.

You may try feeding lionfish a variety of foods ranging from thawed-out frozen krill, whole cubes of thawed-out Ocean Nutrition foods (a wide variety), chopped fresh seafood (shrimps, scallops, clams, cod). Goldfish don't make good lionfish food .... little nutritional value.

Yeah you may want to research keeping lions some more before buying one. I don't know your fish keeping experience but lions are not the easiest fish to keep. You will need very good filtration since lions eat so much. Like Len said, if you are getting a full size lion you will only want one in a 40 gallon tank. If you are getting a dwarf you can keep it in a reef tank with other fish, but you will have to be careful. The dwarf lion will eat small fish and crustaceans. For feeding lions, they might only eat live food until you wean them over to frozen food. Like Len said, goldfish and other freshwater fish aren't good feeders, however ghost shrimp are acceptable temporarily. Damsels or other small SW fish are best though. You will want to train your lion(s) to eat frozen seafood, usually by tying it to a stick or something and wiggling it to make it seem alive. Good luck with it
