I recently puchased an open brain a few weeks back. All of a sudden it is starting to die, tissue disappearing. Is there anything I can do to stop the loss of the coral? (FW dip,iodine,etc)...it has been a long time since I had this happen, and am not sure what the latest solution is, if any....Thanks!

Iodine dip may help in some situations (e.g. protozoans) and is worth a shot IMO. I'd also siphon away any rotting portions. Unfortunately, these type of infections usually overtakes a coral in really short period of time.

Some people will say not to but I saved (well saved half of it anyways) a trachyphyllia from the same type problem several months back by a lugols dip - I did about 3 drops of lugols in a gallon of water and swirled the coral around in it - a few nasty looking micro crustaceans came off and the tissue recesion stopped completely. The rest of the coral is doing great now but it hasn't fully reformed it's mouth yet.
