I have had this brain for quite a few months now

http://www.69chargerrt.com/images/brain.jpg

For the first time this morning i noticed those trails of ooze coming out of him. Have never seen that before. Is that stuff bad? Is he bleeding? or something similar?

I put in a flame angel a week or two ago. I hear they can be dangerous to brains, but not necessarily all the time. being such a pretty fish i took a chance. now ive never seen him attack the brain. he swims near it, over it, around it, constantly, but never pecks at it. I think I saw him go for this ooze now. Im concerned if hes the cause of the ooze? or is he just attracted to it?

heres an overall pic of the tank if that helps

if the 'ooze' is a brownish substance coming out of the ployp mouths, it's most likely expelling zooxanthellae-the cause is prob'ly stress of some kind-it may be adjusting it's amount of internal zooxanthellae to adjust to the lighting, or it may indicate something more serious

one time is enough-if the flame pecks at the tissue, and breaks it- that alone could do in the coral-flames are a very high risk fish to put in a tank w/corals-they naturally feed off of clam and coral slime,-all the fish has to do is accidentaly miss the 'ooze', get a piece of the coral tissue by mistake, and you may be in trouble

i'd advise removing the flame asap

its neither brown nor coming from the mouth. its a whitish clear type subtance coming from the edges. he looks fine now and the angel is no where near him at current. i suppose it was stupid of me to put the angel in there. if he does cause problems im screwed. theres no way i can get him out of there.

Don't corals just release waste sometimes, that may be brown and coming from their mouths? I am asking, I could be wrong. My corals all seem to close up at night sometimes and do that. Especially after I feed them shrimp, the next day or two the do it. It seems like they have to release waste like any other animal. They are (almost) all in perfect health, and have been doing this for a year at least that I can remember.

Yes, corals do release such waste especially after I feed shrimp pieces. Every time I feed the plate coral it will release such waste about 2-3 days after wards. When I dont feed for say a month it wont release anything, so I know its releasing the waste from the shrimp feeding. Same goes for the brain coral.
